They Keys to Heaven Tarot
They Keys to Heaven Tarot
We recently decided to embark on the journey of creating our own tarot deck, this is a massive project that will probably take two or three years (we hope) but there is always the chance it could take longer. Saskia has agreed to paint each card while Brad is the mind behind the designs. These cards are going to be designed to accompany a book by Brad called “The Keys to Heaven” which is a comprehensive guide to magick. Therefore the tarot set is going to be named “The Keys to Heaven Tarot”. Each card will correspond to a different lesson in the book and the symbolism in the cards will relate to lessons of the chapter. We are aware this is not going to be an easy process but we hope to produce something of quality in the end.
The card we decided to start with was the Ace of Pentacles. This was because traditionally in the Golden Dawn system the first element you would learn about was earth.
The ace of pentacles represents the point of manifestation, the connection between the spiritual and it manifesting in the physical world. This card predicts your hopes, actions and beliefs that manifest on this plane according to the cards around it. The suit of pentacles is a journey within itself and the ace is the start of the journey, you know what you want, you just need to work out how to get it. This card shows you that it is in your capability to achieve these material goals and the surrounding cards will give you more insight into the situation. If the card is reversed, the cards surrounding it will show you what is getting in your way of achieving your material goals.
The Hamsa hand – the hand in the middle of the card symbolises the hand of god and the blessings of power and strength that spirit bestows. It should also be noted that the hand is outstretched showing the ability to give. This is because the ace of pentacles reminds us of the spirit of generosity and often one must give before one receives. It comes out of the mists of creation – the clouds at the bottom. The vine growing up the hand symbolises the beginning of a journey, from seed through to fruition, showing the potentially for the end of hervest. There are crops planted in the field, a sign that you have put in hard work already. The dawning sun behind the hedge represents the continual opportunity for new beginnings and the doorway through the hedge that leads to it shows the way of the enlightened person. The roses on the hedge symbolise the joy you experience from seeing the results from all the hard work you have been doing. The decagram above the opening in the hedge symbolises the lesson you must learn before passing through the arch. This lesson is to do with understanding the process of manifestation for with knowledge comes power. The colours in the opening are white flecked with gold symbolising the brilliance of Kether on the tree of life. The keys beside the arch show that you already have the tools you need to pass through the doorway.
So there you have our first tarot card, we hope it won’t be too much longer until the next one is ready.
Cheers
Brad & Saskia
